Garment Gut

Garment Gut is an installation of deconstructed garments accumulated through an ongoing process of wearing, altering, and transferring clothing from the body to the wall.

Developed after my move from New York to Los Angeles, the work began with garments that no longer corresponded to the person I was becoming. Rather than discarding them, I cut and reconstructed each piece while wearing it, using my body as the first site of the work. Worn, altered, and tested in everyday life before entering the installation, the garments preserve the traces of a practice driven by curiosity, in which form emerged through experience rather than predetermined design.
