Fleeting Beauty, 2022–Present (Interdisciplinary project)
Fleeting Beauty
Fleeting Beauty explores impermanence through handmade paper created from recycled household packaging and organic materials. Individually, each sheet records the character of its ingredients; together they form shifting installations that move between collection, landscape, and temporary shelter. Light, shadow, and projection continually alter the work so that no single view remains fixed.
Inspired by komorebi—the Japanese word for sunlight filtering through leaves—the work considers how ordinary materials are transformed through curiosity, close observation, and a willingness to let the work unfold through making. Rather than imposing a predetermined outcome, I follow the materials closely, allowing relationships, patterns, and forms to emerge through the process of making. Discarded packaging, fibers, and fragments are remade into fragile forms that suggest both natural and constructed worlds: at times resembling stones, ruins, specimens, or quiet memorials. Balancing delicacy with instability, the installations invite viewers to pause and consider how value can emerge from what is usually overlooked, and how beauty can exist precisely because it is temporary.
